Product update · HSK read-write practice

Read, practice the pattern, then write

LangStep's HSK practice engine combines a short reading with focused items such as comprehension, sentence ordering, pattern completion, and a guided response. Learners can receive immediate item-level feedback before moving into writing.

What changed?

A reading passage alone does not give a beginner enough practice transferring a pattern into a sentence of their own.

  • Adds HSK 1, HSK 2, and HSK 3 read-to-write practice sets.
  • Supports comprehension, sentence ordering, pattern completion, and guided responses.
  • Keeps progress across attempts and allows a learner to skip the warm-up when writing first is more appropriate.

See the change in context

我先复习词语,再练习写作。

Wǒ xiān fùxí cíyǔ, zài liànxí xiězuò.

I review vocabulary first, then practice writing.

How to use it

Start with a short text, notice the language you need, and write a response that remains your own. Use support as a next step rather than as a replacement for thinking.

  • Read the example
  • Write one meaningful sentence
  • Use a focused hint if blocked
  • Revise and save your version

What LangStep does not do

  • The HSK label describes the practice set, not a formal examination result.
  • Short practice items cannot represent every reading or writing situation.
  • Learners may skip the warm-up, but skipping reduces the amount of guided practice before writing.
