A four-step HSK 1 session
Do not translate every word before you understand the point. First read for the situation, then use the vocabulary notes to confirm what matters.
- Read the short text once
- Find the people, place, or action
- Review three to eight focus words
- Write one sentence about yourself
Useful beginner topics
Introductions, family, school, food, daily routines, and simple plans give beginners a high return because the same structures appear across many conversations.

Keep the writing small
The writing step is not a second exam. A sentence that communicates something true is a successful start; you can add detail after the first version is saved.
